Ricoh Deutschland GmbH in Brackenheim engaged Fast Lane to conduct a VMware vSphere Health Check. The engagement included an assessment of Ricoh’s current vSphere deployment in terms of configuration, operations, and usage. A key part of this service included workshops with Ricoh Brackenheim IT staff to review best practices in five layers of the VMware technology stack. After the VMware vSphere Health Check service the following primary objectives were achieved:
- Assessment and summary of the VMware vSphere environment in terms of its current host and storage health as well as its architecture
- Provide clear recommendations to improve the performance, manageability, and scalability of this environment
- Serve as a reference for Ricoh Brackenheim to review best practices and communicate current infrastructure and storage issues
Fast Lane Services and Solution
- Technical audit of the infrastructure using VMware Health Analyzer, Capacity Planner and opvizor
- Meetings with Ricoh IT staff to gather information on organizational dynamics and existing policies
- Detailed analysis of the data
- Compute – ESX hypervisor and host hardware configuration
- Network – Virtual and physical network infrastructure settings
- Storage – Shared storage architecture and configuration
- Virtual Datacenter – vCenter, monitoring, backup and other technology to support operations
- Virtual Machine – Virtual workloads, application requirements
- Assessment report and recommendations
